хоровод

Hi there everybody! Yeah, we kind of abandoned this site for awhile, but today I'm bored, and back to it.

Today's Wednesday Art is cool, if a little confusing.

At this site here, you'll find a collection of illustrations all by different artists of odd little characters holding hands. You can view them all by scrolling to the right. You can also hit the individual websites of the illustrators.

That's all I know. No idea who is behind it. No idea how to get involved. No idea what's it's even called, aside from whatever Russian that is.

Anyhow, enjoy!

Public Service Announcement

The text reads:

Monkey Steals the Peach

This is the classical name for the upward groin slap. Drop to the right knee, swinging the arms like windmills to distract the enemy and deflect any defense he may offer. The left arm ends in jodan, the rising forearm block, protecting the head as you drop low and slide forward without stepping. Turn the palm up as it swings between the enemy's feet to stun him.

The Application of Monkey Steals Peach

Whip the arms as described and strike the enemy's groin with the open palm, fingers bent at the first joint in a Monkey Paw or Tiger Claw fist. The impact will lift the enemy off the ground. Those skilled in chi kung can direct energy up the Ch'ueng Mo channel of the body and stop the heart. Followers of the Iron Hand styles immedietly clench their fists tightly, with a crushing grip, and jerk the hand sharply back to the near hip, effectively ripping away the genitals. Massive blood loss causes death.

Ow. Ow. I don't even have a "peach" and I'm wincing. All the way to the end it just sounded like an elaborate way to touch another man's balls, but damn. Ow.

Meat Cake!

What's that? Cooking a regular old cake too girly for you? The thought of frosting a fluffly confection with sprinkles and glitter make your manliness run for cover? When someone asks for coq au vin, do you make beer-butt chicken? Is ketchup your condiment for every meal? (Mm. Ketchup and Cap'n Crunch.)

Well then, men, have I got a cake for you. Behold! MEAT CAKE! Three delicious layers of meat loaf, it's even frosted with boxed mashed potatoes and gravy. Impress the fellas at your next sports-related party.

Japanese Fiddler on the Roof

Based on the stories of Sholom Aleichi, Tevye-san the Milkman is a Jewish peasant in Fuedal Japan (yes, apparently they did have those), coping with the day-to-day problems of `shtetl' life, his Jewish traditions, his family (wife and daughters), and ninjas.

Friday Potpourri: Inside a Sharpie

How much is inside a Sharpie? You know you've wondered it, too. Just how many CDs can you label with one Sharpie? Luckily, the folks over at Cockeyed are on the case!

If you've never seen the site, it's definetly worth checking out. The "How Much is Inside?" section is my personal favorite, although Rob's experiments with a credit card application and his Halloween costumes are friggin' sweet as well.

But today we feature the Sharpie Experiment. Mostly because I like the picture with the feet here.

Friday Potpourri: Sudoku!

Enjoy!

Momma Cat, Baby Skunks

"One week after being born, six baby skunks were abandoned by their mother. Luckily, we had just weaned five kittens off of our resident farm cat a day before, and hoped that she might take them on as her own. She was reluctant at first, but she let them nurse - a positive sign. Two weeks have gone by and the six little "stinkers" are thriving, and their new mom couldn't be happier. She has become quite devoted to them, and even carries them around to show them off to visitors!"
Pheobe's song from Friends comes to mind for some reason...
